Nova Wax
Nova is a one of a kind wax boasting the qualities of Liz’s favorite European wax formulas! It is creamy, elastic, and gentle enough for the most sensitive skin types. This hybrid wax is ready to revolutionize the future of waxing! Hard wax guru Liz Lugo, discovered her passion for skincare while attending Bellus Academy in Poway, California; one of the most accredited beauty and wellness institutions in the nation. Liz soon realized waxing would not just be her career, but also an aspiration toward perfecting the technique of its artistry. Liz’s vision was to create a wax that is gentle on the skin but removes all types of different textured hair. Liz dreamt up Nova Wax while working in her studio, a thought, then an idea that came to reality thanks to Maystar Cosmética, the makers of Starpil Wax; which have supported her every step of the way. Liz had always envisioned a depilatory wax that allows you to work faster while improving the quality of your work. This vision is now a reality. Liz knew the exact specifications she wanted for Nova Wax. She visited the Maystar Lab in Tarragona, Spain, and sat with the chemist to break down every single detail she wanted for her wax. From the consistency and setting time of the wax to its creaminess and elasticity, Nova Wax is everything Liz ever dreamed of for her brand.

Why waxing is better than shaving…
- Waxing will save you time
- Instead of shaving every day, you will wax every three to four weeks
- The percentage of ingrown hairs is less than with waxing rather than with shaving.
- With regular waxing, your hair will become thinner and finer over time, compared to shaving your hair grows in coarser.
- Waxing will remove hairs in hard to reach areas inaccessible to shaving
- No stubble
- Waxing also eliminates razor burn
- Waxing removes the hair at the root taking the hair a longer time to grow back in.
- After your wax, you will be very Smoothe
What is in your wax?
Wax is becoming increasingly popular each year. Naturally, more brands have appeared in this rapidly expanding market.
MAIN INGREDIENTS
There are three main types of wax, NATURAL, HYBRID, and SYNTHETIC based.
- NATURAL based waxes will contain GLYCERYL ROSINATE (Rosin) as the main ingredient. This is a pine resin. It is harvested from pines around the world in a liquid state (oleoresin). On exposure to air, the volatile oil evaporates leaving a hard-glossy substance, the GLYCERYL ROSINATE. Natural waxes are still very popular. Many estheticians prefer natural waxes because they are more than 90% biodegradable.
- More advanced waxes are SYNTHETIC and the main ingredient for these is POLYCYCLOPENTADIENE HYDROGENATE synthetic resin. Some customers may develop an allergic reaction to pine resin and the melting temperature for this resin is lower, synthetic wax is recommended for people with sensitive skin.
- HYBRID soft/hard waxes are a combination of SYNTHETIC and NATURAL. The first ingredient is PEG-3 Dirosinate or Tryethylene Glycol Rosinate. This ingredient is derived from natural rosin but it is more plastic, pure, and stable. The resin is less sticky then natural resin and can be completely removed from the skin leaving no stickiness.
Here at Smoothe we use a hybrid wax and a natural wax.
